After months of hard work and determination, Bishop Manogue’s varsity basketball team is headed to state semifinals with confidence. Before looking ahead to state, it’s worth looking back at the regular season that got them here.
The Bishop Manogue miners finished 25-2 overall and went undefeated (8-0) in league play, proving that they are one of the top teams in Northern Nevada. Right away this season, the team clicked. They worked hard on defense and didn’t panic under pressure. No matter the situation they always tried to find a way to win.
Senior Foward Kade Snyder led the team offensively, averaging 19.7 points per game and 9.2 rebounds. Whenever the team needs a bucket, he is someone the team could count on. But the miner’s success was not just about one player. Junior guard Eli Benna averaged 4.0 assists per game and brought energy on defense, while seniors like Connor Sheridan and Liam Sorensen stepped up when it mattered most.
The student section has also played a big role this season. with strong student support at home games, the high energy in the gym made it tough for opponents to compete. Wins at home helped build confidence and showed how mentally tough this Manogue team has become.
Now that the miners have turned their attention to post season, the goal is to keep the momentum and intensity going. Their semifinal state matchup is set for Friday February 20th at 4:40pm against Legacy at Spanish Springs. If they advance, the state championship game is scheduled for Saturday, February 21st at 2:00pm, also at Spanish Springs. With everything they have accomplished this season, the team is ready for the challenge ahead.
