The Bishop Manogue ski team is ready to compete in their upcoming state finals this Friday, after weather adjustments due to blizzards and unexpected storms throughout this week have shifted the schedule. The championship race will take place this Friday at 10:00 a.m. with one run of Giant Slalom (GS) and Slalom (SL). with awards starting at 3:30 p.m. in the lodge.
Without the normal two runs, the team must focus on excellence with fewer opportunities to perfect their run.
Heading into this state competition, both boys and girls have already made their mark this season with strong performances from each side. From the recent competition, the Girls, Avery Cronin, leads the Miners with 1st place, followed by Emilia Hsu in 5th, and Scarlett Squirs in 11th. Paige Johnson, Kennedy Brown, Avery Callahan, Ana Miller, and Misha Skehon are also following with valuable points for the team.
The Boys team with similar leads. Even Santos got 2nd place, while Gino Daoust in 11th. Tyler Calder, Devante Mabunda, Gage Brown, and Ethan Fehling, backing this impressive line up.
“We worked very hard this season to get to where we are today,” says Mckinley Henning, Freshman on the Girls Team.
State Finals are located on slide side with “ski access only,” which means fans must be on the mountain with a lift ticket to access the races.
With strong season results behind them, the Miners take on the slopes at Mt. Rose, looking to finish this season with strong performances.
