After a strong regular season, Bishop Manogue Catholic High School dominated its playoff game against Reno High School. The Miners beat their long-time rivals 62-28 at home Friday night.
Miners fans celebrated five touchdowns by starting quarterback, Brandon Mann who is a junior. The team earned three touchdowns in the first quarter before the Huskies ever made it into their endzone. Even 2 News Nevada Sportscasters recognized Manogue’s dominance. Jaden Urban reported, “The Miners never let it get close.” Manogue has beaten the Reno High Huskies the last seven times they have played each other.
Even though temperatures were near freezing, the team was hot and fans were pumped. Students packed the stands in their best ski gear. Varsity cheerleader, Addie Larson said, “Even though it was cold, it was super fun because there was never a dull moment.”
Bishop Manogue Football is hoping to win another state championship in back-to-back years. This week the team is preparing to take on the Reed Raiders for the opportunity to represent Northern Nevada in the 5A Division 2 State Title game. That game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, November 15th at Manogue. So show up and show out, Miners!
