It’s that time of year where People Magazine publishes a photoshoot of a beautiful male actor, passing on the title of the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’. Since 1985, this yearly tradition has become quite the honor for the man given the title. From Mel Gibson to now, 36 different men (4 of them having received the crown twice) have been bestowed this glorious title, most of them well deserving. This year, People Magazine has named John Krasinski as their 2024 Sexiest Man Alive title holder, but does he really deserve it?

John Krasinski is a beloved actor in the Hollywood scene. Best know for his roles in ‘The Office’ as Jim Halpert and the ‘A Quiet Place’ series as Lee Abbott, this 45 year old Boston native definitely has talent. I would never deny that he is a well-known male deserving of the praise he gets for his acting capabilities, but when he is titled the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ that is when I start to have some questions. This title should be reserved for the males that all people can agree are attractive and deserving, like last year’s recipient Patrick Dempsey. That is a man all women have laid their eyes on and at one point or another had some sort of crush on, easily seen from his nickname ‘McDreamy’ in the hit TV series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’.

It is not that John Krasinski has absolutely zero attractive attributes, because I would not refer to him as ugly whatsoever. There just simply has not been a role where Krasinski portrays any sort of sex-appeal or acts as the attractive, crush-worthy character that one would be drawn to. He is objectively not the most attractive option that could have been chosen for the 2024 ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ title. In my opinion, a much more agreeable option would have been Glen Powell. But nonetheless, congratulations to Mr. Krasinski as this is an honor regardless.
