Manogue’s JV Girls’ Cross Country team took first place at the 5th Annual Goldmine Invitational in Auburn, CA. They went up against six other teams. Our top finisher was Elizabeth Higginbotham with a time of 25:42.89 in three miles. The course featured a major hill named Goliath Hill which was about 50 meters long. This clearly didn’t deter the girls though as they pushed through the pain to claim first place.
Other notable racers for Manogue were Grant Carman (Varsity Boys), Luke Swanson (Varsity Boys), Summer Roleson (Varsity Girls), and Emmery Scolari (Varsity Girls). Emmery Scolari said “I don’t like running while I’m doing it, but after it’s done I feel great.” She shared this after she ran a 19:35.96 to place 11th out of 102 in her race.
These results reflect the weeks of tough training that they have put in so far. This proves Manogue’s commitment and drive to continue to be a force in Northern Nevada and beyond.
The team credits their great head coach Lisa Daane, who drives about an hour down to Reno every day to host practices for the team whether it be at Bartley Ranch, Manogue’s Track, or at Evoke Fitness. Her dedication ensures the team trains at its best.
With this race in the books the Miners turn their focus to the Leo Mikelonis Memorial Cross Country Invitational at Golden Eagle Park on October 4th. They’ll look to carry their Auburn momentum into that race and beyond as they prepare for JV Champs and Regionals.
