Friends of the Poor Walk, a fundraised event in Reno, took place last Saturday, the 27th of September, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. The event was located around the Manogue track.
Hosted and organized by a Saint Vincent De Paul Society conference, a club at Bishop Manogue, the event exceeded all expectations. Although their original goal was $10,000, the Saint Vincent club raised over $14,460 overall, with Manogue alone raising $6,459. The club provided drinks and snacks during the entirety of the event. fostering community and connection.
The funds assisted neighbors in need in Carson City, Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County. Assets aided programs like eviction prevention, Utility bill payments, and Homeless services.
The Friends for the Poor walk not only surpassed its fundraising goals but also displayed the generosity and commitment of the Bishop Manogue Community. Through the efforts of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society and the students and staff from Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, this raised necessary funds for our neighbors in need. This event, as a whole, showcased the mission of compassion and connection and highlighted real-life examples of faith in action.
