One thing I truly love about Manogue is how many school events we get to put on. These events make the school feel alive and give us all a chance to connect outside of the classroom, while still being at school. Of course, I wish we could have even more, but events cost money, and budgets can be tight. This is why I personally recommend Karaoke Night. Every Tuesday at Reno Public Market, you can grab some Manogue friends and sing your heart out, either on stage with a group or by yourself if you’re feeling brave. I think Karaoke Night is such an underrated way to step out of your comfort zone while still being surround by the people you know and trust. It’s fun, low-pressure, and honestly, nothing beats seeing your friends cheer for you as you tackle a song you might have been nervous about. These will be some of my favorite memories for me to remember for years to come.
But you don’t have to stop at karaoke. Bowling, mini golf, a trampoline park, or even just grabbing a snack with friends are all ways to bond outside of the school walls. I think these activities are extremely important because sometimes seeing each other at school just isn’t enough. Between classes, homework, and tests, it’s easy to feel stressed and disconnected. Doing something fun together gives everyone a break from the stress and a chance to laugh and enjoy each other’s company. Honestly, these moments are what make the Manogue community feel special to me. They remind us that school isn’t just about grades, it’s about building friendships, making memories, and having experiences that you’ll remember long after high school. As a senior in high school, that is what matters most to me at the end of the day. I hope we can keep finding ways to do this, because these events are what make Manogue feel like more than just a school, it feels like home.
