As the spring sports season approaches, the Bishop Manogue Varsity boy’s lacrosse team is preparing to open in what could be their strongest season yet. Coming out of a strong 2025 season, the team is entering this year with heightened expectations, a tougher schedule, and a group of players who have grown together on and off the field.
The 2026 season officially starts later this month, but pre-season practices have already shown their drive to succeed. With a core group of Varsity players returning, bringing with them years of established team cohesion, the Miners are ready to show out and make a statement against some of the top programs they have ever faced.
Varsity head coach, Eric Peacock, emphasized the growth and unity of this year’s roster. “We’re coming off a strong 2025 season that left this group hungry,” he said. “The 2026 sequel brings the most aggressive schedule we’ve ever played, including some of the best teams in California. Many of these players have been together since they were nine or ten, and it shows. This region hasn’t seen a unit that plays the team game at this level.”
That chemistry is evident in the way the Miners play. The team’s success relies on communication and trust rather than individual performance. Veteran leadership mixed with emerging underclassman talent has created a roster that is bound to make waves this season.
As the first faceoff approaches, anticipation builds among players, coaches, and fans. The team’s opening match is set for February 21st against Jesuit High School. With last year’s regional championship under their belt, the Miners are ready to chase even bigger goals in 2026, and we should expect an exciting season.
