This year, two students ran completely unopposed for their respective positions. One of these students was Leighton Benge, the 2026-2027 Historian. Leighton is currently serving as the ASB Historian, so she is continuing her role into the next school term.
Leighton will be a senior in the upcoming school year, and she can’t wait to continue her work in Student Council, working with her peers to make a great year for the student body. Her position entails running social media accounts, coordinating spirit days, making advertisements, photographing events, among other general leadership responsibilities. Leighton said that her favorite part of her position is getting to bond with her peers and seeing all of their hard work come to fruition.
By bringing multiple years as Historian into her role, Leighton is an experienced candidate that is committed to bringing joy to our school community. She told the Miner Detail that she is incredibly excited to be a part of Student Council during her senior year, and that she can’t wait to see what the future holds.
We are excited to see how Leighton and the rest of the Student Council work together next school year to bring the school spirit! Congratulations Leighton!
