Spirits at Bishop Manogue are high, as ASB elections are right around the corner. ASB plays a crucial role in giving Manogue the school spirit that makes it so unique. Student’s have the opportunity to run for a wide variety of positions, one of these positions being the Comissioner of Clubs and Service. This position has two main responsiblities. The first responsibility is being in charge of all things club related on campus (like spearheading the ever anticipated club fair at the start of the school year). The second main responsibility is organizing fun service projects to give back to the community and help students be the change they wish to see. This year we have 3 amazing candidiates running for the position: Olivia Escobar, Brooklyn Kyler, and Mia Hall.

Olivia Escobar:
“Hi my name is Olivia Escobar, and I would be a good fit for Comissioner of Clubs and Service because I started the club Beads of Brightness at Manogue. Through this experience, I have learned what goes into starting and running a club here, and I would be a strong resource for anyone interested in getting involved, as well as for students who already love being part of clubs at Manogue! I want to serve in ASB because I love planning events, and as Comissioner of Clubs and Service, I would work to organize even more service opportunities for our school. I will be inclusive of all grade levels and and encourage participation for every student. I love the community we have here at Manogue and how Involved students are in volunteering and service, it’s one of the many things that I believe makes our school so special!”

Brooklyn Kyler:
“My name is Brooklyn Kyler and I am a sophomore. I run cross country. I play softball. I am the founder of a formal wear drive for the Dance With Grace prom closet. I would be a good fit for this position because I love to help people and solve problems. For example, Dance With Grace helps people look and feel their best, so I contribute to the cause by volunteering my time, and getting items to donate to the cause. I have so many more ideas to bring to the table as well, like a drive for the women’s and children’s center, or an opportunity to come help with animals at the humane society. I want to serve in ASB because I want to help the school and the people in it. I chose this role because I love to help people. The role of Commissioner of Clubs and Service can help me bring so much more to the table to help and bring awareness to so much, even just here in town. I love the community at Manogue the most. The spirit at Manogue is better than I have ever seen it. I know that people will want to stand by my side to make a difference with me because of it.”
Mia Hall:
“My name is Mia Hall and I am a sophomore here at Bishop Manogue. I am involved in both the varsity volleyball and basketball programs at the school. Along with that, I am a dedicated student and am grateful for the opportunity to serve our school. I would be a good fit for this position because I love to be involved in all programs of the school but especially service projects. I really enjoy applying myself to new challenges and my organization and passion for helping others makes me perfect for this job. This role of ASB involves organizing the club fair and I always look forward to this event. It would be an honor to see all of the new clubs and help others find a good fit. In order to elevate this role, I would propose new ideas of service projects such as clean-up networks and working with elementary schools. The thing I love most about Manogue is that it is centered around Jesus. I am so grateful that part of my daily life in school is getting time to spend in the chapel and learning about God.”
A huge round of applause for these awesome candidates for putting themselves out there and getting involved in the Manogue community. Elections and voting will happen in the coming weeks, so make sure to keep an eye out and cast your vote.
