Bishop Manogue’s spring musical, Mamma Mia!, is almost here, and the excitement around campus is hard to miss. Performances will run March 12–15, and after months of rehearsals, the cast and crew are getting ready for opening night.
Next week marks the start of tech week; the final stretch before the show officially opens. Tech week is when everything comes together. The lights, microphones, costumes, set changes, and choreography are all cleaned up and perfected so the show runs smoothly. It’s a long week filled with late afternoons and plenty of adjustments, but it’s also when the production really starts to feel real.
Students have been working since winter to bring the story to life. From learning harmonies to running scenes over and over again, the dedication has been clear. The upbeat ABBA soundtrack has already become stuck in many students’ heads, and the fun costumes and energetic dance numbers promise to make this show one to remember.
For many cast members, the musical is about more than just performing. Sophomore, Lucy Ferguson said, “I love how close the cast is and how well we work together because we all share a passion for theater.” Her words reflect the sense of community that has formed throughout the rehearsal process. Spending hours together after school has helped the group grow closer and build trust on stage.
The annual spring musical is one of Manogue’s biggest student-led events, bringing together performers, stage crew, and directors in a true team effort. It gives students the chance to step outside their comfort zones and showcase their talents in front of the entire school community.
As opening night approaches, anticipation continues to build. With tech week underway and final touches being added, Mamma Mia! is ready to take people’s breaths away. Be sure to grab your tickets by scanning the QR codes around the school and support your classmates as they take the stage March 12–15.
