This week, the MTV staff paired up to compete in a spikeball tournament in the small gym, with honor and glory to forfeit. This bracket style tournament tested the friendships among the students of broadcast journalism.

The first day of the tournament started off with Courtney and Julianna playing Sebastian and Ryder. Having previous experience proved to be a massive advantage for Sebastian and Ryder, who ended up taking the game 11-2. Next up was Cole and Zane against Kate and Alex, who showed great promise in the beginning of the match but ended up losing 11-4 to the boys. The tensions were high for the final match in round 1, Lily and Mandy against Brooke and Ela, who went into the match feeling very confident. “We are here to win” says Brooke before going into this highly competitive match. Lily and Mandy started off very strong, taking an early lead of 9-3, but a stroke of bad luck led them to lose 11-9 to Brooke and Ela.

All teams are practicing hard for round two of both the main and consolation brackets, which will take place on Thursday of this week. This next round of matches will determine who faces off in the finals next week for the title of MTV Spikeball Champions.
