Miners Varsity Women’s Lacrosse vs Reno High Huskies

Alex Jaffe, Staff Writer

This past week, the Bishop Manogue girl’s varsity lacrosse team battled against Reno High at Reno High. They crushed the Huskies, winning 17-7. Top scorers in the game included Ella Seeliger, Jenna Riley, Jordan Wynn, Ella Barainca, and Baylee Brown. The varsity team has had a great season thus far, only losing one game to their longtime lacrosse rivals, the Galena Grizzlies.

This game was one to remember, both teams were getting heated as the game progressed, at one point Reno High took the lead and was ahead by 3 points, but the Miners seeing an opportunity for a change in the game caused turnovers, and displayed clean moving attack and defense which ultimately shut down many goals, and made a number of points for Bishop Manogue.

After the game, the team was very excited about their win, and team captain, senior Baylee Brown says this about the game, and the Miners season thus far: “Today we played very hard, I am so honored to be captain for such a wonderful team, truly but I am also so proud of how the team, even throughout the troubles and adversity that we experienced on the field, still played hard and still embodied Bishop Manogue’s values no matter what. The girls and I have all worked very hard to come together as a team, and it is really starting to show, I’m excited to see where the rest of the season takes us, and I am very sad this will be my last season at Bishop Manogue.”

The team intends to continue to take wins and become the best they can be, and they hope to have the same record when they play Galena later this week. Another big congratulation to the Miners, and good luck!
