The Bishop Manogue faculty recently announced new dress code guidelines that forbids sweats and leggings from all school events and institutes “floor-length” Homecoming and Prom dresses. The announcement specifically restricts the allowance of “sweatpants bottoms or leggings, even those purchased through a spirit pack with a Manogue logo” to any school related events including dress down days, spirit dress up days, and Miner Pride Fridays. As well, ladies are expected to wear “full-length dresses…that are mid-calf or longer” and gentlemen are required to wear “formal pants (no jeans) and buttoned-down dress shirts” to Homecoming and Prom. Homecoming has been formally known as a Semi-Formal dance, short dresses being the more common traditional choice of this dance. Bishop Manogue Dean Ms. Haeberlin-Cope stated that the goal of the new dance dress-code is to “make homecoming a more formal dance this year.” Despite the student body’s aversion to the new attire changes, many are hoping that this year’s dances will be just as fun as they usually are.
