Manogue faced Jesuit in a football game in Sacramento this past friday. This was the Miners first football game this year. They went to Roseville with the hopes of destruction and it did not turn out that way. The Miners were ready to face their foe with the coach’s guidance. During the first quarter, Cody Fleishman ran the ball in for a touchdown to tie the game 7-7, but Jesuit took the lead shortly after. The coaches kept the team focused during the game. Throughout the game Tony Carmella racked up an astonishing 13 tackles and Salesi Manu got 3 sacks. During the final minutes of the game Phillip Jacobs threw Ben Scolari a deep ball for a clutch touchdown pass that put the game at 30 – 14 Jesuit. Towards the end of the game Jesuit’s student section was ecstatic for the victory, while the Miners fell to defeat. But the miners put out a great fight at the school. Rylan Martyka had 2 fumble recoveries and 7 tackles. They felt the long defeat on the long ride home, but they have hope for the rest of the season
