The Bishop Manogue Girls Tennis Team celebrated Senior Night yesterday, September 14, at their match against Spanish Springs High School.
The girls started the day by revealing the banners that can be found hanging outside the tennis courts that show each of the five seniors on the team this year. “I liked seeing the pictures of everyone. It made all of us feel loved and appreciated by the rest of the team,” says senior Sigourney Kendall-Golder. Next, the seniors were presented with gifts and flowers by some of the underclassmen on the team along with a heartfelt speech from Coach Jason Yelley.
The match itself started off strong with the team winning five out of six sets in the first round. This energy was carried into the second round with four out of six sets won. The Manogue ladies closed it out to beat Spanish Springs 14 to 4 overall. This marks their sixth win of the season, making them undefeated thus far.
The Bishop Manogue Girls Tennis Team will finish their regular season next week when they play Reno High School on Tuesday and Carson High School on Thursday. They will compete in the regional competition after fall break and go to the state tournament in Las Vegas at the end of October. Their match against Reno High will be at home at 3PM this Tuesday September 19th. This is the biggest match of the season, so come out and support the lady Miners as they beat the Huskies!
