As our world begins to advance more and more technologically, we have seen the influence new developments like AI have on our society. Although AI may have some positives and make things a little easier, its negative effects outweigh these slight pros by a ton.
AI has been proven to not be completely trust-worthy. There is a complete lack of privacy for its users and can put their personal information in danger. There can be programmer bias, error, and the regulation for AI is totally unclear. Not only is it dangerous, but it’s extremely costly. Is the high cost really worth the possibility of putting you or your loved ones’ personal information at risk? I think not.
Another con of Artificial Intelligence is quite literally in the name: it’s artificial and emotionless. Robots are unable to have human connections and feel emotions. They have no creativity and only follow the path, unable to think outside of the box. There is no moral component in AI, meaning they lack the ethics of humans, and this is the quality that brings about the idea of AI destroying humanity and taking over the world.
One huge issue with AI is the unemployment that comes along with it. Robots have already started to replace the hardworking people in factories and other jobs, creating serious struggles for the workers just trying to get by and feed themselves or their families. This could cause unemployment rates to skyrocket, and although efficiency rates may increase there would be a devastating effect on the working class if more AI began to take their jobs.
Artificial Intelligence can do good things, but in excess will do more damage than good. If contained, AI can help humans out here and there, but if left unchecked, the future of AI could have disastrous effects on humanity.
