Every day throughout the school, students are having a heated debate on whether or not the lunch options at the school are overpriced. While yes seven dollars can add up over the year, this is a necessary cost for the time and effort put into not only the quality of the food but the wide variety of choices that are given to students.
Bishop Manogue is the only high school that has a rotating menu of nutritional and balanced meals ranging from chicken sandwiches to pasta. All of these meals are hard to prepare and cost a lot of money to produce. For getting restaurant quality food on campus for less than menu price, I’d say that’s a fair deal. Then there’s the rotating selection of baked goods and homemade snack bars that are some of the best options in the SCC. These items are baked with love so it makes sense that it costs a little more then some junk food that wouldn’t fill you up.
While price is a factor for some people, Bishop Manogue does a fantastic job providing food/ financial aid to help students pay for a lunch that they need. The school doesn’t want you to go hungry so if you ask they’re always willing to lend a hand. Then there’s also the cost of our food provider Roundabout that provides us with not only the food but the pantry to cook some of our favorite dishes.
Sometimes the prices may be harsh to look at but remember what you’re really paying for. A good home style meal, that’ll keep you filled the rest of the school day.
