Basketball season has begun! A long time favorite at Manogue, the Boys’ Varsity Basketball games have commenced and the competition this year is intense. After last years’ team dominated the competition, winning the Northern Regional title and going all the way to the State Championships, this years’ team has some big shoes to fill.
Staring off the season strong, these boys fought for the win against Reed and then another against Galena, both by over 10 points! Then, the team had a tough struggle the next two games ultimately ending in two losses against Douglas and Damonte Ranch. This did not break the boys’ spirit though, and they brought back the fire against McQueen, gaining another win! The next two games were a tough battle for the Varsity boys, and although they worked hard they ultimately ended up losing their games against Spanish Springs and Reno. For the final game of the league season before the schedule restarts and the teams re-play one another, these boys brought their all and ultimately pulled out the win against Carson!
There are some mixed feelings about the season so far on and off the team. Junior Kaden Rowe on the Boys’ Varsity Team says “The team is not where it should be in this part of the season, but I think we can turn it around.” With a 4-4 record half way through the season, these boys definitely have an opportunity to improve, take back some wins, and get going in the playoffs. All of the Manogue fans can’t wit to see what the rest of the season holds for the Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team!
