It’s almost election season in Nevada and that means Democrats and Republicans from Nevada will finally choose who they want to represent them as the nominee in the presidential election in November. On February 6th, a caucus will be held for the Democratic Party and on February 8th, a caucus will be held for the Republican Party. These caucuses will give Nevadans a chance to vote for who they want the nominee to be.
Joe Biden is currently the President of the United States and he is running for reelection as a Democrat. Even though he is the incumbent he has two primary challengers in Representative Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson. These challengers don’t stand a chance, and it’s expected that Biden will win the Democrat vote in Nevada.
The same story can be said about the Republican caucus. Former President Donald Trump is running for President again and he is seen as the frontrunner even though he has many primary challengers. The top 3 competitors to Trump are Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley, and Vivek Ramaswamy. All these challengers haven’t been able to compete with Trump’s poll numbers and it is expected that Trump will win the Republican vote in Nevada.
As both parties navigate the challenging caucus system, the outcomes of these caucuses will help determine who the nominees will be for each party for the election which will happen on November 5, 2024. “It’s an exciting time in politics,” Vonnegut Chadwick of Left or Right Politics says. “The winner in the Nevada primaries usually ends up being the nominee for the Presidential Election, so it’s always an important race.” Stay tuned for updates as the future of America is decided in the Silver State.
