Kairos is a retreat that happens intermittently throughout students’ Junior and Senior year at Bishop Manogue. It is a time of reflection, peace, and prayer, but this can sound a little daunting to some, especially with all the mystery and little information that is given. It is a true leap of faith. As retreatants are getting ready for this upcoming 72nd Kairos, let this article serve as a guide of what to expect going into the long weekend.
Probably the most valuable piece of advice retreatants can get is you get out what you put into it, meaning how you act can determine the outcome of your experience. If you take in the serenity and the events that happen with open arms and excitement, retreatants will make memories that will last a lifetime. Although if something like Kairos isn’t taken seriously, there’s a possibility of not getting the meaning behind a retreat like this. Another piece of advice would be to not expect Kairos to be like past retreats. Kairos has so much more going for it. While, yes, the Freshman and Sophomore retreats are great, Kairos is a more personal experience. The lower classmen’s retreats are open to the whole grade as a way to meet other students in the given class, unlike Kairos only having around 45 total people!
Junior Zane Woods had this to say about the upcoming retreat,” I’m really nervous, like a good nervous though. I’m excited to see what it’s all about.” Kairos is a fantastic palace, where students and faculty can find themselves and learn more about their peers and colleagues. It’s something that needs to be cherished and respected. Hopefully this year’s spring retreats are getting amped up for Kairos 72!
