Brycen Bowers, a Senior at Bishop Manogue High School is emphasizing friendship and the importance of genuineness, especially in her senior year.
Brycen was born in the Bay Area, California, but moved to multiple different cities which gave her the chance to meet new friends everywhere she went. “I moved around a lot when I was in California, and had the chance to make a lot of friends, which was really important for me.” At a young age, she met one of her best friends, Jack Harper. From the first day she met Jack, they had an instant connection. The two were best friends from kindergarten to sixth grade in California, until Brycen moved to Reno in 2013. Although the two were in separate states, their friendship has continued and they are now going to college together at Ole Miss. “I’m actually going to college with my lifelong best friend from California, so long lasting friendships are really important to me!”
Because of these long distance friendships and the qualities she has embodied throughout the years, Brycen has found the same genuine friendships in her hometown. “Coming to Reno was a big change, but I ended up liking it here, and I am very thankful for the friendships that I have made throughout my life and my experiences in so many places.” She has connected with new friends this year, and has continued them throughout the year hoping to carry them into college in Mississippi.
In Brycens everyday life, she wakes up, showers, gets ready for school and then meets her friends at her car in the mornings. After school, she either goes to cheer practice with her team, or works with her best friend Ayla at DeltChev Gymnastics. In her free time, she enjoys going out with her friends and getting food. “I hang out with friends and there’s never a time that we don’t go out and eat.” Her favorite place to eat at is Chick-Fil-A, and she goes there a few times a month.
One thing people may know about Brycen, is that she is extremely double jointed, which helps with her flexibility for cheer. As a flyer and captain of the Manogue Cheer Team, she leads the team through encouragement and friendship because “that’s the best way to have a strong and competitive team.” Because of this, the team has successfully cheered every football and basketball game, performed in countless rallies, and done it all together as one team.
Through lifelong friendships and cheering since she was five, Brycen has found her passion for genuineness and spending time with the people she is closest to. Because of these inspirations, she is continuing her schooling with her best friends, and keeping her lifelong friendships going into Ole Miss and the rest of her life.
