Basketball Playoffs are officially over for the 2024 season. Last season, the boys team took it all the way, becoming 2023 Regional Championships and making it to the State Championships! This years boys had a lot to live up following the season Manogue had last year, and although they worked very hard they couldn’t quite make it to the end of playoffs.
The boys fought hard throughout the second half of their season. The schedule restarted and the team played Reed again, ultimately ending in a loss. But this didn’t stop these boys, as next game they came back and beat the Galena Grizzlies. The next game was a good fight between the teams, but unfortunately our boys had a close loss to Damonte Ranch. The boys brought the heat their next game though, gaining a win against Douglas. The next two games were tough battles, but the team couldn’t beat Spanish Springs and Reno High. For the final game of the regular season, the team came together for a win against Carson! This made their regular season record 8-8.
This landed the team in the 5th place slot in Northern Nevada, giving them a spot in the playoffs! For the first round, the team in fifth was put against the team in third, so this made our first round game against Spanish Springs. After two regular season losses to Spanish Springs, our boys knew they had to bring their all this game. It was an intense game, but the Manogue boys brought the fire and beat the Cougars by 3! “The game was hectic and very high in energy, winning was awesome,” says Junior player Kaden Rowe. This advanced them to the second round of the playoffs, and their next game was against the undefeated Damonte Ranch Mustangs. The Varsity boys gave it their all, but unfortunately were not able to come out on top, thus ending their season.
The Varsity Boys Basketball Team really gave it their all this season and really did some great things. They represented Manogue in a very positive way and showcased so much potential. Manogue can surely be excited for the future of this team and what they will do next season!
