The Bishop Manogue performing arts department continues to rehearse Spamalot, with only three weeks left of rehearsals. Over the past few weeks the cast has practiced and rehearsed the first and second acts, as well as memorized their lines. Most of the rehearsal has gone into the choreography, led by the choreographer Mrs Flocchini. There have been some challenges faced around the singing and dancing sections in act two but they have been corrected or smoothed out in the end. The set design is also in the works, with several set pieces being designed by family members of the cast, as well as the stage manager. A large wooden rabbit has been constructed, and is now being assembled in the theater room.
“There is definitely a lot more material, and it is coming along a lot slower than anticipated, but everything seems to be coming together well. We will be ready to put on a great performance in march!” said Aibhilin Pezanoski, a sophomore performing in the musical. Many other cast members think the same, the musical from the year prior was much smaller and less time consuming than the one currently in production. The Addams Family musical, which was the last musical, also had a much smaller cast than the current one. The larger cast size has meant that the management of cast members has been somewhat difficult for the directors. Despite these difficulties, the rehearsals are making lots of progress. In the end, Spamalot is on track to be one of the most difficult, but one of the most impressive musicals ever done by Bishop Manogue.
