The Sadie Hawkins’s Dance, hosted by Bishop Manogue Highschool, was last Friday, April 12th, from seven pm to nine pm. This annual dance left students leaving with mixed reviews.
While Sadie’s was still a blast for many, had a good turnout, and left everyone dancing with those they love, many students left with a different expectation of Sadie’s compared to what they expected walking into the dance. While those who set up did their absolute best, many believed Sadie’s was underwhelming.
Nola Jaffe, a Junior who attended the dance, said, “I wish there was a better DJ. The dance could have been better.” There are areas of improvement that can be done for smaller dances such as Sadie’s. A better DJ is a common complaint about school dances every year, and is never really something that is fixed or changed. There also could be improvements on the atmospheres, Manogue is normally very successful on decorating school events, but this Sadie’s was pretty barren, just some balloons. But, it is important to highlight the positive parts of Sadie’s this year. This dance allows you to get all dressed up, it gives you a break from the craziness and hardships of life as a teenager, and allows you to connect with your classmates in an out of school setting. Despite the mixed reviews of this night, it is essential to shed light and focus on the positive aspects, as well as work towards bettering school events for the future.
