Bishop Manogue students returned to school this week with accommodations for affected families after a three-day closure due to the Davis Fire.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation, however, the firefighters have been working to control the fire. The fire has burned an estimated 5,646 acres and is 37% contained. About 20,000 residents and 100 Manogue families have had to evacuate their homes due to the fire threat.
Bishop Manogue has made arrangements to accommodate every family affected by the fire. Manogue is offering a virtual option for displaced students and students who can not make it to school due to road closures. Additionally, Manogue is offering a relaxed dress code due to the evacuations of students. “I’m so grateful for the accommodations Manogue has created. It makes this stressful time feel a little less stressful,” says Kailani Garcia.
Many Bishop Manogue families are in need of help after having to evacuate their homes. To help, you can donate supplies such as school uniforms, clothing, bedding, and toiletries to the Student Commons. You can also volunteer to help distribute resources to impacted families. Additionally, you can donate to the BMCHS Guardian Angel Fund to help Bishop Manogue families experiencing financial hardships. Community members are encouraged to donate and every donation is valuable.
