Bishop Manogue took on McQueen at home on Friday night, defeating the Lancers 45-26. Bishop Manogue’s quarterback Brandon Mann led the way for the Miners. He completed twelve of twenty passses for 244 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 45 yards. Mann spread the ball out to all his receivers with Joey Thomas III, Dulin Hukari, Nathan Simmons, and homecoming king Vince Clark all hauling in touchdown passes.
Manogue’s defense was just as strong as the offense. Marley Spuhler led the way with five tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss. Nathan Simmons also made his impact defensively with three tackles for loss and one of Manogue’s three interceptions.
Despite the loss, McQueen’s quarterback, Cooper Craft had a good game throwing for 319 yards and three touchdowns. His three interceptions didn’t help the offensive effort, stunting drives, and limiting their ability to comeback.
“We played strong on both sides of the ball and I can’t wait to see how we do the rest of the season,” Offensive Lineman Nathaniel Bray said.
Bishop Manogue will play Reed next Friday who started the year out strong with a 5-1 record.
