The Homecoming dance had technical hiccups on Saturday night after the music kept abruptly cutting out. The reasons for the technical difficulties were unclear. However, it might’ve had to do with the hyped up crowd.
When the music did work, Manogue students were dancing, moshing, having fun, typical Homecoming activities. But the crowd did get a little riled up, especially the upperclassmen, who got a little too close to the stage. It got to the point that Ms. Thoreson, the principal, and Mr. Ghilieri, the dean, got up on the stage to tell people to back away from the stage. But it seems as if that didn’t stop them, as only a couple minutes after, the music cut off for the first time.
The music was out for around 8 minutes. People were very confused, complaining, some people even left the big group near the stage to go into the hallway, ready to leave at a moment’s notice. Then the music came back on for about 15-20 minutes before it cut out AGAIN. It had something to do with the cables and people possibly stepping on them and causing them to disconnect. Nonetheless, students were still frustrated, even blaming the DJ. “OH HE SUCKS!” said Romel Collins, who was in the middle of dancing when the music cut off.
Overall, the dance wasn’t a disaster really. Even with the music cutting off twice, people were still dancing, taking pictures, and the seniors had a lasting memory of their last homecoming.
