The Bishop Manogue Varsity Volleyball Team won against McQueen on Wednesday, October 30. The team will go on to the regional championship against Reno high school.
The first set of the game went to McQueen, 23-25, with Manogue just behind the Lancers. However, the Miners came back stronger and beat the Lancers the next three sets, determined to make it through the playoffs this year. They won the sets 25-22, 25-22, and 25-16, with the final outcome being 3-1.
The win could not have been done without the game’s stand-out players. Lily Beckwith, a sophomore, and Kaetlie Harris, a junior, helped secure the team’s spot in regionals with their strategic and aggressive hits. Senior Crystal Pautler stood out as a middle blocker due to her powerful blocks and quick reflexes, shutting down McQueen’s offense and contributing crucial points for the Miners. All of the players worked together more than ever, knowing the game could possibly be their last. Junior Sofia Jaferian, a libero on the team, said, “Playing together during the McQueen game felt like we were an actual team, and I wouldn’t give that up for anything.”
The Manogue Varsity Volleyball team has made it through playoffs and is headed to the regional championship! They compete against the Reno Huskies on Saturday November 2nd, at 12 pm. No matter the outcome Saturday, the Bishop Manogue volleyball team will be competing in the state tournament next weekend. Congratulations to our varsity volleyball team! Go Miners!
