On Mothers Day Sunday 2026, several Manogue students spent the morning volunteering and cheering on runners and walkers at the annual “Moms on the Run Race.” This race is a huge deal each year, and individuals from all walks of life come together to celebrate the moms that make it all happen. It takes place at Damonte Ranch High school and is a lengthy 4 mile track. The event was marked by good vibes, warm sunshine, and a sea of pink clothing in support of breast cancer awareness.
Manogue students volunteered for a variety of tasks throughout the event. Some students helped give facepaint and temporary tattoos to the younger kids to add a bit more sparkle to their morning. Other students worked to tie pink balloons and pass them out to race goers as they passed the finish line. Some of these racers happened to be Manogue Alumni and were proud to see the Miner representation. No matter what their morning task was, each student made sure to cheer at the top of their lungs for the racers as they passed by. The aftermath of the race consisted of mingling and enjoying complementary doughnuts, ice cream, and coffee. This truly showcases the power of Manogue’s key value of service.
4 miles is no easy task, especially in very warm and sunny weather. Despite this being the case, there was no shortage of people who came out to support. The overall turnout between runners and volunteers was over 4,000! Sunscreen and a dream can truly work wonders. Any funds raised for this event went towards helping women fighting breast cancer afford treatment and other costs associated with the disease. Money was raised through selling some awesome and festive pink merch and through registration costs for the race. Talk about a community showing up and showing out for each other.
One Manogue student volunteer stated “I truly loved volunteering for this event! It was such a good time and the energy was unmatched. Not only was I able to get service hours, but I also made so many fun memories that I will carry with me. I am totally going to be back next year and would encourage all students to take part in this event, whether it be as a runner or as a volunteer.”
A Manogue Alumni who happened to be running in the race said “I thought it was the coolest thing to see some fellow Miners volunteering. I wasn’t surprised though because the Manogue community is big about giving back. Green and gold pride runs deep and I am so proud to be associated with it.”
Overall it was such a successful “Moms on the Run 2026!” Memories were made and money and awareness was raised for breast cancer treatment. Looking ahead to the future, this is an annual event so any Manogue student who is interested should most definitely sign up next year to volunteer. Make sure to give your mom a hug and thank you Miner moms for all you do!
