Undefeated, Bishop Manogue Girls Varsity soccer team is the number one team in Reno after their 8-0 win against Douglas this Tuesday. Galena fell to second place after losing to Carson 1-2 that same night.
The Bishop Manogue Miners are currently on a winning streak in their 2026 season. In a recent game against Damonte last Saturday, Joley Luke scored 2 goals in their 6-0 win. Their striker, Ana Malarkey, is ranked 1st in Class 4a with 16 goals in only 6 games, scoring 5 in their 6-0 win against McQueen on August 18th. Team captain, Gemma Brunetti said, “I think our preseason had a big impact on us with all the conditioning we did and just giving it our all even when we didn’t feel like it.” She also added that the team’s energy on and off the field helps them perform the way that they do. Their defensive line Ella Bradly, Kendall York, Joley Luke, and Brynn Bell feel unstoppable, winning mostly every ball. Their midfield knows how to work around other players, moving the ball through the middle and getting it back out wide.
After a loss to Galena in the regional finals last year, the Miners are hungry to come back and dominate them. With lots of discipline and training the head coach, Amber Gwinn-Lyles, has built an environment where every practice matters, with the girls showing up focused and ready to work. This is what separates them from good to great.
The Miner Ladies face their biggest competition yet, Galena, on September 22, 2026 at home. Will they keep their streak or will they take the loss on their home field?
