Female athletes at Bishop Manogue came together on August 28 to recognize supporting their fellow athletes across sports as well as creating self confidence in each and every athlete. This event was organized by Jackie Peacock, cheer admin and wellness coordinator here at Bishop Manogue. The event brought teammates together and celebrated all female athletes here at Bishop Manogue.
The workshop included a group workout, team bonding, and sharing what each team member admired about one another, as well as what they admired about the other sports.
The workout was one of Jackie Peacock’s famous workouts. Jackie explains that, “The workout encourages you to stop and think about what strength you bring to the team. Whether it be power, balance, positive self talk, or mental strength.”
After the workout, the athletes separated into their respective teams and had time to talk about what they bring to the team and their “personal strength.” As well as what they admired and respected about the other sports that were there. The workshop helped athletes to realize that each and every person brings something important to their team, and each and every role is just as important as the next.
Jackie Peacock says, “It was so fun working with the girls, recognizing personal strengths, and inspiring teammates.”
After the workshop the girls continued to support their fellow teammates as well as supporting other female sports. As a team the Varsity and JV cheer team came together to watch the Varsity Soccer girls compete against Spanish Springs. The JV soccer team also came out to watch a tennis match played by the Bishop Manogue Varsity tennis team. Other teams continue to show up and show out at their fellow girls sports teams.
Jackie plans to hold another workshop for the winter athletes in January. She hopes to continue uplifting and encouraging athletes, and bringing together sports as a whole.
