Boys Soccer lost to Carson High at home earlier this week with a scoreless loss against The Senators, zero-to-two. Carson is performing good this year, with their record of seven wins and one loss, but this isn’t the beginning of the Miners’ troubles. Even though Carson is ranked first in the Sierra League, Manogue sits near the bottom.

The Miners haven’t had the greatest season so far. Their record is zero wins, nine losses, and one draw against league and non-league opponents. In the 5A Sierra League, Manogue sits with their record of zero wins and four losses and one draw against other league opponents. They rank fifth in the league so far, but Manogue is only one of the two teams in the Sierra League who still haven’t won a game this season. The other team with zero wins is Douglas, a team Manogue tied with earlier in the season. Senior Landon Park was asked about the possibility of playoffs with this record and said, “It’s not looking good. In my four years we haven’t been to the playoffs. But maybe we can turn it around somehow.” Hopefully his optimistic approach helps lift spirit for the Manogue Soccer Boys.

The possibility of playoffs is still real. The top four teams in the Sierra League go to the playoffs, and Manogue still plays against all five of the other teams in their league before the season ends. Although it would be difficult, if Manogue could win their match against Galena, who is 4th in the league, the Miners would have a better shot at making the playoffs. Their next game is against North Valleys, a non-league opponent, for their Senior Night, September 23 at Bishop Manogue.
