As the days get colder, snow starts to fall on the mountains. This means one thing, ski season has arrived! Mount Rose has stated they will open once they have enough snow, Squaw Valley is scheduled to open November 25th, and Heavenly is booking days for pass-holders to visit. Boreal is allowing everyone to go, but since there is a limited amount of space, you must first purchase a ticket online before arriving at the resort. Northstar and Kirkwood have the same process of buying lift tickets online prior to your visit to the mountains.
However, with COVID-19 concerns, the mountains will be less occupied and more precautions will be taken, such as no eating inside the lodge for some resorts, and having to wear a mask in the line to the lift. At Mount Rose, skiers can only use the lodge to use the bathroom, and no food is being served. If you’re going up to Rose, don’t forget to pack a lunch. They are planning to open the lodge for food services, but the exact date is unknown. Other mountains such as Kirkwood, Northstar, Squaw, and Heavenly have their dining facilities open, but with only a 50% capacity. In the case of Mount Rose and Heavenly, only season’s pass holders are available to book days to ski to limit the amount of traffic on the mountain. With plans to open the mountains up to the public again. But no matter how long it may take to open, we can expect a great year of skiing.
