After a tumultuous past year, fall sports are back in full swing here at Bishop Manogue! Football, soccer, cheer, tennis, cross country, and golf have begun practicing and are awaiting their first competitions. Coaches and student athletes alike are ecstatic about the possibilities of this new season and the potential of our teams.

For many athletes, the start of this season comes with new goals that couldn’t be achieved with the challenges and limitations that Covid proposed last year. Varsity football player Marrio Williams explains, “With these first two weeks being out of town, it’s a great opportunity for us to show everyone that we are contenders for the state championship this season.” The varsity, junior varsity, and freshman football teams have been practicing through the summer and have started scrimmages.

Another perk to a semi-normal sports season is the prospect of students being able to attend games. Last year, the crowds were very limited – often only parents were allowed to attend. This year, we’re all hopeful for the student section to make a comeback, especially the cheerleaders. Cheerleader Ayla Westphal expresses her excitement to be hopefully cheering to a crowd, saying, “It’s more fun to cheer when the crowd is having fun with us.”

As we move forward in our school year and with our sports, the Manogue community is excited to see what this season will bring. To find out when competitions are and more, visit the Bishop Manogue Athletics website.
