This spring Miner Boys and Girls Varsity and JV traveled to Boise, Idaho to compete in 2 tournament style games each, with the goal of bettering skills against formidable opponents and fostering relationships, and future traditions with schools outside of Nevada.
The Boys Varsity and JV played their games on Friday April 12th at the Bishop Kelly High School fields. Both teams sadly lost but played hard against the Bishop Kelly JV and varsity boys teams, varsity losing 7-12, and JV losing 6-7. The girls teams started their streak the next day, Saturday April 13th, once again at the Bishop Kelly High School fields, where they first also played Bishop Kelly’s varsity girls team winning 7-6, and JV played hard but lost 3-9. The varsity girls played later again that day, against Vallivue high school and won 8-5. JV finished out their time in Boise, playing Boise High School, tying 6-6! Senior, and captain Ella Morrow says this about the weekend, “I’m so happy we got the opportunity to go to Idaho, and play these teams!
It has been great to test our skills on new opponents and build connections with the girls on their team. I also loved spending time and bonding more with our team, the trip really brought us all closer together. I hope we can make this a lasting tradition and go back in years to come!” The boys also competed in their last 2 games later that night, varsity playing Eagle High School, and losing 13-7, and JV also playing Eagle and losing by 2. Congrats on the great games miners, and great sportsmanship throughout the journey!
