The community service fair happened last Thursday in the main hallway to promote service opportunities for students. This fair brought lost of different organizations around the Reno community that were searching for helpers to get involved in their program for service hours. However, if you were absent during the time of the Service Fair, fear not! These are the organizations that were involved at the service fair:

Family Respite Care of Nevada: Family Respite Care of Nevada is an organization prioritizing give care to children with disabilities at their houses. They provided specialized care of these kids with parents who are tired or not able to take care of them all the time. Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada: Catholic Charities of Nevada is a group of organizations that provide food, clothing, and shelter for the homeless. They have been serving the greater Reno area for 85 years and are associated with the Diocese of Reno. Food Bank of Northern Nevada: Food Bank of Northern Nevada is associated with feeding America and has the goal of feeding the hungry and solving their hunger for the future. They have provided 23.1 million meals for families struggling in the Reno and Eastern California region. Safe Embrace: Safe Embrace operates the largest safe house in Northern Nevada to provide a safe place for victims of domestic and sexual violence along with human trafficking. They prevent these traumatic incidents from happening again and help them overcome them and become a survivor. Note-able Music Therapy Services: Note-able Music Therapy is an organization that wants to change the lives of people with disabilities through the art of music. United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra: United Way of Northern Nevada has the goal to unite the communities of Northern Nevada to volunteer, advocate, and create a better community. Eddy House: Eddy House is a nonprofit agency that serves any homeless and at-risk youth ages 14-24, by providing shelter. They create a safe and supportive environment for homeless and at-risk youth to develop the life and skills necessary to achieve independence. Special Olympics of Nevada: The Special Olympics of Nevada is an organization that provides year round sports training and athletic competitions aimed for children and adults with physically and intellectual disabilities. Spread the Word Nevada: Spread the Word Nevada is a corporation dedicated to advancing childhood literacy in low income households. They do this by giving children books to promote a love for learning and create future academic achievements with self-confidence in the newer generation. Junior Assembly of Reno (JA): Junior Assembly of Reno is a 80 year old organization that brings students from all over the Reno area together. It has the mission of shining a spotlight on its member with encouragement, celebration, and showcasing the members to see them selves with their best light. Pass the Bricks: Pass the Bricks is an organization that gives children easier access to play with Legos. LEGO is an incredible tool that develops kids cognitive and emotional development, and some kids don’t have access to these tools. They repurpose old lego bricks into new sets for children who wouldn’t have access to them originally. Each student at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School needs 75 service hours in order to graduate from this school, and 150 to get a chord at Graduation. Marian Hoy, the person who does the service hours said: “Get them done.”
