Bishop Manogue’s all-girls, faith-centered service club has officially stepped into action by planning upcoming service projects to support the Manogue and wider Reno communities. Sodality began brainstorming ideas on how to give back to the community at their board meeting last Tuesday. The club hopes to organize many drives and fundraisers within their school community, as well as many outreach events to feeder schools, charitable organizations, and other people in need.
After Manogue’s service fair, the club has brought in a tremendous amount of new and returning members who are eager to participate in the organization and execution of its planned events. In upcomng months, the club’s head Mrs. Mechsner and board members plan to execute 3 events concerned with the wellness of the Manogue community, 2 drives, 2 outreach fieldtrips, and 1 club fundraiser alongside the help of Sodality’s massive resource of general members.
October-December are jam packed with events, many of which may be open for you to help out with. From the annual events of the Halloween dress-up fundraiser at the end of October, Thanksgiving food drive mid-November, and the St. Albert’s Christmas party, to new events being brought to life for this year such as the final exam de-stress station and service surrounding Veteran’s appreciation, Sodality offers all girls at Manogue interested in helping an opportunity to serve their community, lead with faith, earn service hours, and grow closer to their peers.
“Sodality has offered me an amazing opportunity to give back to my school and community alongside like-minded people.” says Senior and board member Bella Morrency. “I’ve also been able to grow closer to people I wouldn’t normally have met, and be able to live and act through my faith by serving those around me.”
Serving others can never be over-done, and Sodality, while full of activities for this year already, is always looking for new people, ideas, and perspectives. It is never too late to join, even though the club fair has already passed. If you are interested in helping out your community, making friends, and earning service hours, you can still get involved. Any girl, no matter her grade level can ask any board member, or the club’s lead Mrs. Mechsner, if you like to join, and Sodality would be happy to have you. With this year so full of new, returning, and exciting events, Sodality is eager to get all hands on deck and get back into serving their community, and can’t wait to continue its mission of love and service.
