Bishop Manogue just opened a new chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and is looking for new members. Last week, the chapter officially started after the members voted on all the officers. They hold weekly meetings in Ms. Heine’s room (B216).
“All it takes is $20, and you get a plethora of knowledge in return,” Ms. Heine, the advisor for FBLA, said when asked about the entry cost to the club. FBLA has paid and unpaid members. Paid members pay the $20 entry cost to gain access to all of the FBLA courses, ranging from marketing to personal finance and more. These courses also include the introductory training for FBLA to raise membership status. When asked about the commitment, Ms. Heine said, “You get what you put into it. Ideally, we want people who are dedicated to learning about business. But in reality, you’re only required to attend five meetings a semester. So it can be low commitment if you want it to be, but you won’t be getting the most of what you could be getting.”
Right now, the club meetings consist of working through the trainings to learn more about FBLA. But next semester, Ms. Heine is looking forward to taking students to competitions. “There are competitions locally with other schools, statewide competitions, and if you’re good enough, National competitions!” If you’re looking for a club to present business ideas, practice marketing or management, or simply just practice personal finance, check out the Future Business Leaders of America club to find what you’re looking for.
