The Bishop Manogue Competitive Cheer team closed out their season with an impressive showing at the USA National High School Cheerleading Competition in Anaheim, California, last weekend. Competing against high school teams from all over the United States, the Miners ended the season on a high note.
Held at the Anaheim Convention Center, the national competition marked the end of the season of endless practices and team bonding. For many on the team, especially the seniors, the competition was about more than just the scores. Jordan Marshe, a senior, said, “I will miss everyone so much and couldn’t be prouder of this team. I’ll miss the friendships I’ve made on the team and will especially miss the unforgettable experience of cheering alongside my younger sisters.”
The Miners placed 13th out of 40 in the POD category, with Jenna Randolph, Gemma Ellis, Carrington Patterson, Megan McAbery, and Lily Cardenas showing off their precise and dynamic routine. The stunt group showcased their strength, synchronization, and technique, standing out against the tough competition.
In their first year competing in the Game Day category, the team finished 17th out of 19. Despite the challenges, the Miners gained valuable experience for future competitions, showcasing their energy and teamwork.
The team’s Show Cheer routine earned them a 7th place finish out of 14. The Miners displayed sharp stunts, synchronized tumbling, and jumps in the one-and-a-half-minute routine, owning the floor with confidence.
With the season officially over, the team will take a well-earned break before starting up again next year. While some members will be moving on, their impact on the program will be remembered by teammates who hope to continue the legacy of hard work and Miner spirit.
