The Miners had their final rally of the school year to celebrate the season of prom this Friday. The leadup to the rally was a fun week. The Student council this year had created some unique, fun dress up ideas in preparation for Prom, which the theme being Rio. Monday you had Beach wear with Baseball boys having their senior night after school. Tuesday you wore animal print with the beginning of a dodgeball tournament. Wednesday you got to match with your friend with iconic duo day. Thursday had concert tees with food truck and line dancing. Then we had the rally Friday. The classes wore certain Rio themed colors to celebrate prom, and had a very fun rally to cap off the week of entertainment into a weekend of Prom and festivities.
The rally started off with the dramatic off with the dramatic entrance of Phil the Janitor on the Zamboni, throwing beads at the students. They then had a beautiful prayer, with a follow up of the National Anthem preformed by Cash Fierro and Liam Olechowski. Then the events commenced.
The first game was the finale of the dodgeball tournament, that started on Wednesday. The Baseball Boys went up against Block-Tuah in an intense match which resulted in Block Tuah coming out on top to win the tournament. Then, the Prom nominees played a game of Hungry Hippo. The female nominee was on a rolling board, and had to grab balls in their basket, that were located across the floor. Storrey and Nate came out on top, collecting the most balls in the time period. Afterwards, they played the Balloon Popping Relay. The goal of the game was the 4 teams, the Baseball boys, Softball Girls, Lacrosse Girls, and Lacrosse Boys had to pop a balloon with their body weight on their team’s lap. The winner of this game was the Baseball Boys.
Then we went into the best part of the rally, the dances! We had 5 duos preform incredible, unique dances that were very special. Then, all the duos came together the a climatic combo dance to finish off the dancing portion of the rally. Then, the seniors went onto the floor, and the other classes went over to their next year rally location.
The seniors had an emotional prayer held by the teachers and deans towards their next endeavors. Afterwards, to finish off the rally, the school returned the infamous “I Believe That We Will Win” celebration that was one of the greatest parts of the former rallies, and was suspended due to injuries caused from the chant. However, they allowed it for the first time this school year in the final rally, which made all the classes in the bleachers run towards the middle and have a dramatic ending to this fantastic rally. After, the Senior parade commenced to celebrate the seniors and their future collegiate dreams at different schools, with some pursuing academics and others pursue athletic dreams.
