Sodality is making another return this year with new kinds of fun events for everyone. After a great turn out from this year’s club fair, they have received many sign ups bringing the club back for another year. With 23 sophomores, juniors, and seniors serving as board members, and Mrs. Mechsner as the leader, they are set up for a great year of service field trips, food drives, and giving back to the local Catholic elementary schools.
Sodality is an all girls club at Bishop Manogue made for creating connections and giving service hour opportunities for all grade levels. In the fall semester alone Mrs. Mechsner has organized seven events welcoming anyone and everyone signed up and willing to participate in helping those in the surrounding areas, while also helping meet the graduation requirements. There are multiple kinds of events being hosted, giving everyone a chance to do what they love for their community.
The upcoming canned food drive will collect cans to be brought to Little Flower Catholic School. Sodality members will be given the chance to unload the cans into their food pantry, stocking it for those in need that come into the church. The food drives are open to all students to participate but the field trip is for club members only. For the holidays Sodality works extra hard helping out local families. Angel Trees will be set up encouraging members to purchase small gifts for families, with this next tree all proceeds will be donated to families at Corbett Elementary. Sodality is welcoming to all members so if you are not able to donate items, there are opportunities to donate your time. Later this semester members can sign up and take a trip to St. Albert’s Child Development center to host a Christmas party for the younger kids.
With over 200 participating in the club it is a great space for girls to become better friends and be able to learn new skills or tips from each other. From study tips of upperclassmen, deciding what to wear for spirit week, or even how to manage your time in miner block by going to different teachers. It is a great place to ask questions and get to know the people you pass in the halls everyday. “My favorite thing about sodality is that it is a safe space for girls to come together using their faith to help others.” said board member and junior Ava Mowbray.. This year’s Sodality events hope to bring opportunities to all girls who want to give back to the community, achieve their service hour goals, find new connections, and grow in their faith through helpful events.
