The Homecoming spirit week closed with seniors taking the win for the hallway decoration competition. The hallway decoration competition was one of several events leading up to the Homecoming weekend. The students participated in dress-up days all throughout the week, and the winners for the class with the best Manogue spirit at the rally and through the week were also the seniors.
Students spent time working on their hallways after school last Friday, turning their assigned spaces into visual representations of their themes. The competition gave each class a chance to show its creativity and Manogue spirit while building excitement for Homecoming.
The senior class was crowned the winner of the Bishop Manogue’s homecoming hallway decoration competition after transforming their hallway into The Queen of Hearts Rose Garden, bringing this year’s “Lost in Wonderland” theme to life. The Senior’s Interpretation of the Queen of Hearts, Rose Garden theme for their hallway exceeded expectations. The decorations really brought the fictional land to a reality with their dramatic design featuring rose bushes made of paper pinned on the walls, decks of cards hanging from the ceiling, giant cards on the hallway wall and much more.
The Junior class placed second with their Mad Hatter’s Tea Party hallway, also showing off their creativity and school spirit. The hallway consisted of yellow walls with clocks made out of paper plates and a giant white rabbit on the wall. The Sophomores took third place, completing the top three finalists of the competition. They had the theme of the Cheshire Cat’s Forrest. The Hallway had many paper trees and a wall completely covered in a humungous pink swirl.
The rally at the end of the week included many fun games and, for the first time ever, a decibel meter for the “I Believe” chant competition. The sophomores led with the loudest chant until the seniors swooped in with questionable tactics and took the win.
The next spirit week to come will be Winterfest taking place early next semester.
