Bishop Manogue’s Student Council and Miner Ministry classes hosted an amazing Trunk or Treat last Thursday, November 29th in the school parking lot. The event was planned originally by Mrs. Cope to give students at Bishop Manogue a fun kick off to Halloween weekend at their own school. The Miner Ministry and Student Council members gathered in pairs or small groups to decorate their trunks, then passed out candy and led games at each car for the students. Underclassmen were released in groups from their Miner Block classes, and walked through the two rows of cars decorated in various halloween themes. Some of the most loved trunks were: Christmas, a spooky campground, M&Ms and Tucker Carlson, Disney, a Halloween tail-gate, and many more.
The underclassmen and teachers were also tasked with the responsibility of voting for their favorite trunk. After a close competition, Mia Parks, Kaila Wiltshire, Liz Mellow, and Alexa Miramontes won for their Disney trunk. Students loved their balloons and decorations compared to others’, as well as their cup knock down game! These students will be awarded prizes in recognition for their amazing trunk as well as disney themed costumes.
It is unsure whether or not this will become a new continuing Halloween tradition at Manogue, but students had a blast. Manogue Junior, Cannyn Bryant specifically stated after, “This was so much fun, I really hope we can do it next year and maybe get other schools to come!” Based on student turnout and Manogue’s mission to create fun community events for Reno, it can be said that this is certainly an event worth repeating for Manogue’s own students and more!
