As winter makes way for the promise of spring, the Manogue High School swim team is filled with anticipation for the upcoming season. The focal point is the excitement coursing through the team, a blend of eagerness for another season and the momentum from their remarkable success.
Diversity and strength define the team dynamics. The Girls’ team, featuring seasoned athletes like Colette van der Veen, Isabel Kellerman, Brooklyn Shull, Claudia van der Veen, and Avery Jakubos, eyes regional conquests and sets ambitious goals for the season. Colette van der Veen, a standout performer, not only seeks personal achievements but also aims to inspire the entire team to reach new heights.
On the boys’ side, a smaller but formidable team comprising Quinn Dyson, Jack Hall, Gavin Smith, and Cade Patten is ready to defend their honor. Quinn Dyson, the reigning State champion in men’s diving, is determined to secure another title, while Jack Hall anticipates improvements in the 100 Freestyle and is looking to win state.
As the season kicks off on February 19, the Manogue Swim Team is ready to showcase not only their skills but also the unity and excitement propelling them forward.
What sets the tone for their aspirations is not just the thrill of competition but the substantial amount of work invested during the off-season. Senior swimmer Jack Hall emphasizes, “Everyone is thrilled to have another season under their belts. Last year, most of the team were underclassmen, and they’ve been working hard and getting better during the off-season.” This dedication, a testament to the team’s commitment, underscores their determination to build on the successes of the past.
