Bishop Manogue celebrated a historic moment on the Thursday night of October 5th as Head Football Coach Ernie Howren clinched his 200th career win, leading the Miners to a dominant 45-0 victory over the Reed Raiders.
This triumph came against Howren’s former team. Joining Manogue in 2017, Howren now stands as the third head coach in Nevada’s history to achieve this significant milestone.
In league games at Reed, Howren achieved a remarkable 75-19 record over 16 seasons, amassing a total record of 146 wins and 54 losses. Throughout his coaching career, Howren has maintained a remarkable 72.4 percent overall win rate and an even more impressive 81 percent success rate in league games. His seven-season tenure at Bishop Manogue contributed significantly to his overall success, with a solid 53-22 record and an impressive 28-5 record in league competitions. This consistent success has led to the acquisition of 10 regional championships.
Expressing gratitude, Coach Howren shared, “What I thought about is how fortunate I have been to coach all the kids that I have over the past few years.” This win not only signifies a personal achievement but also underscores the resilience and dedication instilled in the Miners under his leadership.
The Miners now stand in first place in the league and are looking to win the state title. They have dominated and it is a testament to the dedication and hardwork of Coach Howren.
