The U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) is an undergraduate preparatory college for students wanting to serve in the U.S. Navy or Marine Corps. Bishop Manogue will be hosting a meeting for students interested in attending the Naval Academy on January 17th, at 11:00 am in the chapel.
The Naval Academy, located in Annapolis, Maryland, is a great choice for anyone who wants to join the U.S. Navy or Marine Corps as an officer. It offers many courses that students may find interesting such as Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Weapon Robotics and Controls Engineering, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, as well as Cyber Science.
Students who attend the Naval Academy are called “Midshipmen,” and during the summer they gain real life experience as they participate in training exercises on board active U.S. Navy ships and Marine Corps bases. A U.S. Navy veteran said, “If you want to achieve a high rank in the military, the best thing to do is attend the Naval Academy. Many prominent and famous admirals attended the Naval Academy. President Jimmy Carter also went to the Academy.”
If students get accepted into the Naval Academy, they will have to complete a rigorous seven-week training program called “Plebe Summer” that transforms them from “civilians to Midshipmen.” Upon graduation, Midshipmen earn a Baccalaureate of Science and will either serve in the U.S. Navy as an Ensign, or the Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant for a minimum of five years. The Naval Academy is an excellent choice for anyone who desires an exciting and fulfilling career.
