The championship began on Thursday afternoon as Evans and Quatmann faced their first match against The Meadows School. Both teams fought valiantly as the duo showcased their teamwork and tenacity. Despite a challenging start, Evans hit back-to-back winners and Quatmann aced the opposing team with a strong serve. The duo’s hard work earned them a win of 10-8, which advanced them to the state championship match.
However, Friday proved to be a tough match. Evans and Quatmann had a tough game ahead of them. Despite their hard work and valiant effort, they lost their match 8-10. Because of their loss, the duo moved to compete in individual states.

“Even though I have mostly played team sports my whole life, I have never found a love for a sport as I have for tennis,” says Julianna Evans after her match Saturday, “It allows me to feel individual success, but in an encouraging and loving community for which I will always be grateful to be apart of.”
