Senior night ended in disappointment tonight for the Boys Varsity Soccer team losing a heartbreaking 3-2 to North Valleys. The team now falls to 0-10-1, putting them on track for what could be the worst record in school history. Despite the result, the team battled throughout the game and gave the seniors a great night in front of their families and friends.

The team started the game strong, with Manogue scoring the first goal in the 21st minute. Jake York found the back of the net to give Manogue an early 1-0 lead. North Valleys responded with a goal of their own, sending the two teams into halftime 1-1.

North Valleys came out of halftime and quickly scored again, taking a 2-1 lead. Manogue continued to fight and earned a penalty kick in the 67th minute. Landon Sungbae stepped up and scored the penalty, tying the game at 2-2 and giving momentum heading into the final minutes.

With the game tied, Manogue’s defense held strong against North Valleys and kept the score level. The team continued to battle as the clock wound down, hoping to take the lead. However, with just 3 minutes remaining, North Valleys scored the deciding goal, giving them the 3-2 victory.

The late goal ended what had been a closely contested game and left the Manogue players disappointed after fighting to stay in the game until the final whistle. Junior Angel Jaime reflected on the team’s effort, saying, “It was a tough loss and we fought hard till the last minute. We just couldn’t keep it.”

Although the result was not what the team hoped for on Senior Night, the seniors were still able to be recognized and celebrated by their teammates, families, and friends. With 6 games still remaining on the schedule, the team looks to bounce back and finish the season strong.
