The BMCHS Girls Varsity Volleyball team beat McQueen last night in an exciting 4 set match to secure their ticket to both the regional championship and the state tournament.
After losing in playoffs last year, these girls came into this playoff season with something to prove. Because of their impressive finish during the normal season, the team finished second place and earned a first-round bye. The Miners practiced and prepared for the big game, and come game time they were ready to go.
The first set began the game with a slow start. The Miners trailed behind the Lancers throughout the whole set, ultimately just losing by 2 points with a score of 23-25. The rest of the game was a different story. The Miners came back with a fire that was impossible to put out. The BMCHS girls took the next three sets with score of 25-22, 25-22, and 25-16. With this win, the Girls team has earned a spot in the regional championship for Northern Nevada as well as a spot in the State Tournament next weekend, regardless of Saturday’s outcome.
Stand out players include sophomore outside hitter Lily Beckwith (#1), junior outside hitter Kaetlie Harris (#8), and senior middle blocker Crystal Pautler (#10). These girls played an impressive match against McQueen, terminating majoring of their hitting opportunities. Senior Crystal Pautler says, “I couldn’t be happier to have had my last match on my home court turn out this way. I am so proud of this team and the way we showed up tonight. Next up is being regional champions!”
The BMCHS Girls Varsity Volleyball team is headed to the Northern Nevada regional championship game this weekend. The Miners will face the Reno High School Huskies on Saturday, November 2nd at 12pm at Reno High School. Come and support our absolutely amazing girls this weekend!
